It was released as a double A-side single with " High and Dry ", although receiving far less airplay. Originally known as " Planet Xerox ", the title was changed to Telex because Xerox is a trademarked brand name.

It was recorded one night when the band returned to the studio after consuming a great amount of alcohol. Lead singer Thom Yorke did vocals lying down while intoxicated. It is one of the most frequently remixed songs in Radiohead's catalogue. About “Planet Telex”. The opening track of Radiohead’s second album The Bends, it was released as a double-A sided single with High And Dry, although the latter song received far more airplay. The only song on the album not written before recording sessions began, it was recorded one night after the band had been drinking heavily.

SONG INFORMATION. “Planet Xerox” was this song’s original title, but because Xerox was a copyrighted name, Radiohead changed it to “Planet Telex.” The only song written in the studio during the Bends sessions, it was recorded one night when the band returned to the studio after drinking a lot of wine. Thom did the vocals lying down, completely drunk.
